Conor McGregor issues warning as Regis Prograis hints at post-retirement bare-knuckle move after loss to Jack Catterall: "Take note of this"
Conor McGregor recently issued a warning after Regis Prograis hinted at a potential move to BKFC following his loss to Jack Catterall. McGregor highlighted how a bout at BKFC may play out, claiming it could be both dangerous and thrilling.
Prograis took on Catterall for the WBO International super lightweight title this past Saturday. The event took place at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester. After 12 rounds of intense action, the Brit emerged victorious via unanimous decision. The judges scored the contest 117-108, 116-109, and 116-109 in favor of Catterall.
Following the fight, during his in-ring interview, Prograis opened up about hanging up his boxing gloves and venturing into the world of bare-knuckle fighting.
''Now it might be time to go to bare knuckle or something like that...I think for now now go to bare knuckle, do something else and let the young guys take over.''
Prograis' remarks prompted a reaction from McGregor, who is a part owner of BKFC. The MMA superstar took to X and issued a strong warning to the American about fighting with bare knuckles and how it's different from boxing.
''2 time boxing world champion @RPrograis looking to take off the gloves for @bareknucklefc’s 5 fast paced, 2 minute rounds. Yes the surface damage is a lot more gruesome but with intimate skills in the boxing realm could he successfully make the switch? We already have one two-time boxing world champion who has, and he is now World Champion Bare Knuckle Welterweight champion! We would welcome! It’s not bare knuckle boxing however, make sure and take note of this."
He added:
"It is bare knuckle fighting. There is no red and blue corner, you start centered in the ring behind a line directly in front of your opponent, and elements of clinch fighting are allowed. You can cup the back of opponents head and throw with the free hand fully legal. An amazing game! Most entertaining bang for buck show on the market today and it is not even close. A lot of the straight bare knuckle fighters feel disgruntled at thinking others can come into their sole sport and seek to take from their work. They fight ferociously to defend. It’s exciting times all round at @bareknucklefc."
