Conor McGregor leaves Irish UFC prospect spellbound with prediction of latter's future

Conor McGregor recently hailed fellow countryman Ian Garry's spectacular performance against Song Kenan at UFC 285. The 25-year-old welterweight secured his fourth straight victory with a third-round finish and extended his promotional record to 4-0.

After his TKO victory, 'The Future' celebrated by doing the 'Billi Walk,' popularized by McGregor. 'The Notorious' was impressed by Garry's performance and the post-victory homage paid by the young Dubliner.

Reacting to a video of Ian Garry doing the 'Billi Walk,' McGregor claimed:

"I see a champion!"

To his credit, McGregor has expressed his support for Garry since the very beginning of his UFC career. The two Irish fighters also shared a heartwarming moment backstage at the ceremonial weigh-ins the night before the UFC 285 event.

Conor McGregor is currently coaching Season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) opposite Michael Chandler. The duo is scheduled to face each other in the octagon later this year. However, the promotion has yet to confirm the event's date or location.

Ian Garry on Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler

Ian Garry is backing Conor McGregor to beat Michael Chandler when they meet in the octagon later this year. Despite the young Dubliner being one of 'Iron's training partners at Kill Cliff FC, Garry has no qualms about supporting his compatriot.

'The Notorious' is set to make his highly-anticipated return to the UFC after being sidelined for over a year due to a nasty leg fracture suffered against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. McGregor will first reprise his coaching role in TUF opposite Chandler next season before facing off against the American after the season concludes.

In an interview with Mirror Fighting, Ian Garry weighed in on the highly-anticipated matchup and revealed that he's backing McGregor to emerge victorious:

"This is very simple. I have trained with one guy [Chandler] for a year... Nothing against him but he's going up against a guy who inspired an entire nation. A guy who I've looked up to... A hundred percent, I'm team Notorious."

'The Future' has previously praised Conor McGregor for being an inspiration to him and countless other Irish MMA fans and fighters. Naturally, as a young Irishman, Garry rarely misses the opportunity to laud 'The Notorious' for his contribution to Ireland's prominence in the world of mixed martial arts.

Ian Garry reflects on the "surreal" experience of meeting his hero Conor McGregor prior to a #UFC285 stoppage win.
