Conor McGregor mocks Bobby Green's failed T-shirt throw into UFC crowd with emoji response
Conor McGregor fired off a shot at Bobby Green on social media but did his classic tweet and delete maneuver thereafter.
Green readies to compete this weekend at UFC 304 on the pay-per-view main card. On July 27, the tenured lightweight will look to halt the rise of Paddy Pimblett. Fans on X were reflecting on past moments with 'King' and user @majin2700 shared of clip of when Green threw out his shirt at a past weigh-in where no one in attendance caught it.
Something that was caught though was the attention of the former champ-champ on the throwback clip. McGregor posted and then deleted his response to the botched attempt at bolstering fanfare for Green. The Irish superstar utilized a laughing emoji to punctuate his feelings on the matter.
Check out the tweet of Bobby Green's shirt throw that Conor McGregor responded to below:
Conor McGregor and the mutual UFC opponent he shares with Bobby Green
Conor McGregor and Bobby Green are both tenured octagon combatants with both making their first walks into the UFC cage over a decade ago. Each man made their promotional debut in the year 2013 and has fought a who's who within the sport of mixed martial arts.
Through their fighting forays with the UFC there is one man who stands out as a mutual opponent for both Green and McGregor. That man in question is the former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier.
Conor McGregor had his first fight vs 'The Diamond' at UFC 178 where he would finish Poirier with strikes less than two minutes into the opening round. This September 2014 contest marked the last combat sports endeavor where the 36-year-old wasn't in the main event and is one of McGregor's bigger statement wins to date.
Green would have his crack at Poirier close to two years after that when they battled at UFC 199 in June 2016. The Louisiana native would stop Bobby Green with punches less than three minutes into the opening round of their main card matchup at 155 pounds.
'The Notorious' would go on to have sequel and trilogy bouts against Dustin Poirier which both transpired in 2021. McGregor would fall short in both of these contests in January and July of that year, respectively. He was finished with punches in the second round of their UFC 257 matchup and then McGregor suffered a gruesome leg injury at UFC 264 that saw him fall short to Poirier via doctor stoppage.
The Dublin native has not fought since then with a planned fight versus Michael Chandler in June at UFC 303 of this year being cancelled. The fight fell through due to a toe injury sustained by Conor McGregor, and it is expected to be behind him by now.
