Conor McGregor offers short initial reaction to Endeavor’s UFC-WWE merger deal
Conor McGregor weighed in on the recent news of Endeavor buying a majority stake in WWE and merging it with the UFC to form a new entertainment company.
McGregor took to Twitter to give his initial reaction when both companies as well as the new company's value were confirmed following the merger. It's a massive figure and could be a game changer in terms of how lucrative their next media rights deal is.
He wrote:
"$21bn"
It wasn't his only reaction as he also commented on the merger, which seemingly confirmed the initial CNBC report. He congratulated the UFC and commended Endeavor for making the investment in WWE, writing:
"Congrats to the @ufc now worth a cool Proper $12bn. Wow! Endeavor bout to scoop the @WWE now also. Incredible. What a powerhouse!"
It will be interesting to see if the UFC plans on working out a deal to have McGregor make an appearance in WWE. He got into a back-and-forth with Paul Heyman on social media, so perhaps he is already planting the seeds for an eventual appearance.
Conor McGregor responds to Jose Aldo's fight comments
Conor McGregor has been active on Twitter this past weekend. He weighed in on the UFC's merger with WWE and even angered one of his former foes in Jose Aldo.
Aldo fought former UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens to a majority draw at Gamebred Boxing 4 on Saturday. The former featherweight champion wasn't pleased when finding out that his former foe tweeted that they should box. He stated that the former two-division champion talks a lot and avoided a rematch with him in the UFC.
'The Notorious' responded by saying his tweet wasn't meant to be disrespectful and didn't add any more jibes, writing:
"Well ok then ahaha whatever lad I was only trying to be nice. Who pissed in your açaí?"
Aldo has mentioned in numerous interviews that he and 'The Notorious' have been cordial with each other since their fight. There has been mutual respect between them, so it was a bit of a surprise that the former featherweight champion was upset.
