Conor McGregor places massive bet on Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot at UEFA Euro 2024

Conor McGregor recently announced that he's placed a huge wager on football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot at the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament. Ronaldo notably won the coveted award at the Euro 2020 with five goals and an assist.

It's no secret that McGregor and Ronaldo share a close relationship. The two sports icons have been seen interacting with each other several times in the past and even shared a laugh at the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou boxing match in Saudi Arabia last October.

Given the nature of their friendship, it's no surprise that McGregor decided to hedge his bets on the Portuguese superstar. In a recent tweet, the Irishman announced that he'll be betting 60,000 on Ronaldo retaining the Golden Boot. While it's unclear whether he meant American dollars or euros, he wrote:

"60 G’s on @Cristiano to retain his Euro Golden Boot. Siuuu!"

McGregor's wager could earn him a whopping return of 900,000 if Ronaldo manages to win the Golden Boot again. Intriguingly, the Irishman's bet could pay off given the Al-Nassr star's form. Ronaldo ended the last Saudi Pro League season with 35 goals in 31 games.

Conor McGregor places another huge bet for UEFA Euro 2024

Prior to betting on Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Golden Boot at Euro 2024, Conor McGregor bet on Spain to win the tournament and lift the coveted trophy. The Irishman is a keen follower of football and often shares his thoughts on the sport via social media.

In a recent tweet, the Irishman backed Spain to win the championship and placed a massive 83,500 bet on the team, which would payout 1,002,000 in unknown denominations. In the caption, he wrote:

"Vamos Spain! Easy money on the Spaniards to win the Euros on my birthday! A nice mil for The Mac!"

While McGregor was expected to make his return to action against Michael Chandler at UFC 303, he was forced to pull out due to an unknown injury. The event will now be headlined by an Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka light heavyweight title rematch.
