Conor McGregor praises John Kavanagh's latest venture that illuminates Times Square
UFC bigwig Conor McGregor was all praise for his coach, John Kavanagh, after the latter's company illuminated Times Square in New York City.
Kavanagh's sports technology company, Alta Global Group, provides fitness and combat sports programs and products to over 640 million MMA fans worldwide, across 45,000 gyms, with more than 11 million participants in the United States alone.
Recently, the company signed a deal with UFC Gym to bring its expertise to more than 150 UFC gyms worldwide.
The Irish megastar shared the exciting news via his Instagram story, captioning:
"Proud to be in this with @coach_kavanagh and @trainalta! A ROCKET"
The company boasts several notable MMA personalities, including Israel Adesanya's head coach, Eugene Bareman, two-division UFC champion and Olympian Daniel 'DC' Cormier; and MMA analyst and commentator, Laura Sanko.
Founded in New South Wales, Australia, in 2012, the cutting-edge combat sports program now has over 10,000 fighters under its wing, with the Irish superstar leading the charge.
John Kavanagh supports Conor McGregor's political ambitions
Recently, Conor McGregor made waves as he announced he's running to be the president of Ireland, following his tirade against the nation's corrupt politicians. The Irishman seems determined to demand accountability from the people in power who looted their men.
Following this unexpected shift from martial arts to politics, the former double-champion's ambitions now have the full support of his head coach, John Kavanagh. The two have been together since 'The Notorious's' first professional MMA bout in 2008.
Speaking in an interview with Lucky Block, the SBG Gym head coach opened up on his student vying for the Irish presidency, crediting McGregor for being an "incredibly effective" individual. He further opined that 'Mystic Mac's achievements in and outside the sport, while maintaining an intense training schedule, make it glaringly obvious that he is fit for the role:
“One thing I will say about him, he’s incredibly effective and always has been at compartmentalisation. The reality is, with the physical side of training for MMA, you might be talking about three hours or four hours a day. You’re not 10 hours in the gym and then you’ve no time for anything else. It’s very intense for the one, one and a half hours and then we do that twice a day."
Kavanagh added:
“That session is very intense but then outside of that, look at all he’s achieved outside of his fighting while running the boat at the same time. If anybody could do it, it would be him.”
