Chael Sonnen remains doubtful about the octagon return of Conor McGregor

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen recently cast his doubts over Conor McGregor returning to the UFC. Despite UFC President Dana White suggesting the former champion could return this year, Sonnen believes that is far from the truth and McGregor might well be retired.

Sonnen also compared McGregor pulling out from the Chandler fight to a politician terminating his campaign. Speaking on The Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast, Sonnen said:

"No, I'm not going to be foolish enough to believe that we can get that fight [between McGregor and Chandler] to the ring for Chandler or for anybody else for Conor sadly. The sport is more fun when Conor's around, but no, we can't get him in the ring.
"Zero [percent chance], Conor will not fight again. When Conor pulled out of the fight with Chandler, it was akin to saying, 'I'm retired.' Whether he knows it or not, his career ended that moment."
