Conor McGregor recovers from initial disappointment to cheer up Katie Taylor after upset loss to Chantelle Cameron
Conor McGregor played an instrumental role in bringing Irish boxer Katie Taylor to compete in front of her hometown crowd. Needless to say, he was heavily invested in the construct, as evidenced by his animated ringside reaction.
In her first bout competing on Irish soil, Taylor fought Chantelle Cameron at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. Despite the fierce challenge presented by Taylor and her passionate fans in attendance, Cameron was able to hold on to her undisputed world super-lightweight titles by a majority decision.
Cameron eked out a narrow decision victory on points over the valiant Taylor, with two judges scoring the bout 96-94 in her favor while the third judge scored the bout a 95-95 draw.
For Taylor, fighting in front of a home crowd of 10,000 was an emotional experience, but Cameron's strength and aggression proved too much for the Irish boxer. Even so, the contest was outstanding and the packed arena witnessed two fierce competitors in action
Conor McGregor's immediate reaction proved how invested he was in the fight. The Irishman's expression showed his disappointment when the decision was announced. However, he rapidly recovered from his initial disappointment to cheer Katie Taylor and could be heard saying:
“Another day. I love you to bits.”

Conor McGregor reacted to Taylor's loss in an exclusive interview with Mirror Fighting by sending out a passionate message to her. He said:
"Head up.... You're the champion. You're the Olympic champion and the world champion still in your division."
Katie Taylor was the flag bearer for Ireland at the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics and the Irish boxer went on to capture an Olympic gold medal in the lightweight division.
