Conor McGregor responds to Paul Hughes, hints at reigniting Khabib Nurmagomedov rivalry: "If it kicks off, I'll be there"
Conor McGregor recently consented to Paul Hughes' offer, which could also have him confronting Khabib Nurmagomedov again. The Irishman expressed his unwavering support for his countrymate and implied that he wouldn't mind taking on the Nurmagomedovs once more if necessary.
Hughes earned a split-decision victory against AJ McKee at the PFL Battle of the Giants in Riyadh on Oct. 26. His in-cage interview had him revealing his wish to lock horns with the Bellator lightweight king and Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov.
Moreover, 'Big News' also expressed that he wanted to have McGregor in his corner for the fight. If Hughes' wish materializes, the MMA world will stand a chance to watch McGregor and Khabib in the corners of the rival fighters, as Khabib is an almost regular member of Usman's corner. The situation could go out of control because of the McGregor-Nurmagomedov rivalry.
But 'The Notorious' stated that he would have no issues, even if he had to confront the Nurmagomedovs. He may have turned down Hughes' offer of being in his corner for the fight, but he assured that he would be in the arena and jump right in to take on the Nurmagomedovs if things go out of the way.
An Instagram update from @champ.rds showcased what McGregor said in his now-deleted tweet.
"Paul, my man, I will go to the arena and support 100% for sure, and if it kicks off I'll be in there before you could even say "the nurmagomedovs are juice head in**ed rats married to their cousins". Your team and corner have done a tremendous job with you! They will take you all the way! You've got this! We are with you brother, bring home the Gold!"
Ilia Topuria fires at Conor McGregor referencing his defeat against Khabib Nurmagomedov
Currently, Conor McGregor is ready to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov. But he couldn't deliver when it mattered the most. MMA fans have thrown multiple shades at McGregor because of his UFC 229 loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Ilia Topuria also joined the party recently.
Lately, Topuria complimented McGregor for his previous victory over Max Holloway, but the Dublin native came up with a warning for Topuria about how Holloway could defeat him. This had the Spaniard UFC champ throwing shade at him, referencing his humiliating defeat against Khabib at UFC 229.
"100% Max has improved after fighting you. He must have realized that if he wanted to make a living from this, he couldn't be so bad as to lose to someone like you. Nowadays, he beats you easily. Dustin knocked you out in the [rematch], Nate beat you two times, Khabib humiliated you, and Floyd gave you a master class in boxing at 50 years old. Take a seat, kid. You're a fake fighter."
