Conor McGregor says Spain isn't Ilia Topuria's "home country" ahead of UFC 308, asks Max Holloway to "f**k him up"

Conor McGregor is rooting for Max Holloway to beat Ilia Topuria in their UFC 308 featherweight title clash. 'The Notorious' expressed his disdain towards 'El Matador' during a media interaction at the BKFC Spain fight week.

When JNMEDIAUK caught up with the UFC star during the prefight face-offs at Marabella, Spain, he was quizzed about the featherweight champion calling him out, prompting McGregor to hit back with an aggressive retort:

"F**k him, this isn't his home country. This is my home country baby. My bay of Spain. Where is he at? This ain't his home country. He knows where his home country is, and it's not Espana. So good luck Max Holloway, f**k him up."

BKFC Spain will be headlined by a lightweight championship bout between Tony Sota and Franco Tenaglia.

Regardless of McGregor's sentiment, Topuria is a Spanish citizen. 'El Matador' was born in Halle Westfalen, Germany, and later moved back to his parent's homeland, Georgia.

His family then moved to Alicante, Spain, when he was 15 years old. It is in Espana that Topuria started his MMA training. Despite living in the country for over a decade, he only received citizenship earlier this year.

Topuria is set to take on Holloway in his maiden UFC featherweight title defense on Oct. 26 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The 27-year-old is currently the betting favorite for the matchup against 'Blessed'.

Conor McGregor talks about his comeback fight

It has been over three years since Conor McGregor last fought in the famed octagon, and it looks like the Irishman is itching for some action.

While delays in the fight have caused his originally planned opponent, Michael Chandler, to pursue a rematch with Charles Oliveira, 'The Notorious' still has his eyes set on 'Iron'.

When MMA personality The Schmo recently asked the former two-division champion who he'd like to face in his return to the octagon, McGregor said:

"Hopefully, I'd like to square it away with Michael Chandler. You know I'd like to get Chandler in. We've had our beef, it's not settled. He has a match scheduled, I'd like to maybe fight before that or before he's recovered."
