Conor McGregor shares next bout scenarios for heavyweight trio after "thanking the fighting gods" for Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk thriller
Following Oleksandr Usyk's split decision victory over Tyson Fury on May 18, Conor McGregor took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the bout. With this result, Usyk emerged as the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
In comments shared by Championship Rounds, McGregor stated:
"A mad hiding! What next, who knows. Usyk is incredible. He has beat both soundly. Whatever moves towards Tyson [versus Anthony Joshua] I am for. If Fury wishes to go a second try at the wheel, AJ had two attempts so why not. Tall ask. Not impossible also. If not, AJ Usyk III last hoorah, and then win lose or draw go Tyson AJ."
He continued:
"And congrats and thank you @turkialalshik and all involved in this era of heavy weight fighting for getting all of this done. What a time to be alive thank you to the fighting gods and to God 🙏"
Fury has already expressed that he will invoke his rematch clause after suffering the first loss of his professional boxing career. In the immediate aftermath of the bout, 'The Gypsy King' claimed that he is the actual winner, but the result was in favor of Usyk, as his country is at war.
Tyson Fury once claimed Conor McGregor copied his style
Conor McGregor has established himself as one of the biggest stars in the history of combat sports. That was not the case in 2015, when, leading up to his UFC 194 clash with Jose Aldo, 'The Notorious' was accused of copying Tyson Fury's style.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani of The MMA Hour, 'The Gypsy King' stated:
"All of a sudden, he starts copying me, this Conor McGregor guy. I grow a big beard, he grows a big beard. I talk bulls**t about everybody, he starts talking bulls**t about everybody. So, it works if you're the champion of the world, it must work for Conor McGregor. Some guy who's like 140-pounds or whatever it is... I'm a fan of his but he's copied my style, so I've got to admire him for it."

McGregor went on to claim the featherweight title via first-round knockout later that week, leading to an explosion in his popularity. While he has remained largely inactive over the past seven and a half years, entering the octagon just four times, he remains the biggest star in mixed martial arts.
McGregor is set to make his highly-anticipated return to the octagon in just over a month when he faces Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303, ending a three-year hiatus.
