Conor McGregor teases "riveting" Netflix documentary as he confirms crushing his metatarsal bones ahead of Khabib Nurmagomedov fight

Conor McGregor has teased fans with a new documentary series that will reveal all after confirming he suffered a broken metatarsal weeks before his UFC 229 bout against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

'Notorious' made his UFC return in 2018 following his brief stint at boxing vs. Floyd Mayweather. McGregor was aiming to recapture the lightweight title against the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Irishman went on to lose via submission in the fourth round and never quite looked as sharp as he had previously. While many believed it was because of his extended periods away from the sport, 'Notorious' has revealed it's likely because of his injury:

"I crushed the metatarsal bones in my foot 3 weeks before the Khabib fight, and still made the walk. All injuries are not the same. You will see it all on @netflix. When a serious injury with a high % of never recovering occurs, it is just simply not the same."

Conor McGregor also confirmed that a documentary will be released on Netflix next year. The four-part series will feature an in-depth look into his time in the UFC over the last few years, including a deep dive into his injuries and recovery.

"Series. 4 part. I have just completed executive production of the first episode. It is riveting."

Conor McGregor labels light heavyweight fighter Anthony Smith a "rat"

Anthony Smith recently questioned Conor McGregor's "suspicious" recovery from his severe leg break after the Irishman was revealed not to currently be in USADA's testing pool.

According to 'Lionheart', McGregor not being tested for steroids and other PEDs has put doubt in his mind over the legitimacy of his recovery.

Conor McGregor has responded to the light heavyweight contender, labeling him a "rat" for wishing he was still injured:

"This rat spoke to weidman who’d the same horrific injury and is having severe complications still, is bothered that I was able to heal/return to a normal way of life. He, like many other rats in my game, would be happier if I wasn’t able to play with my children the same again."

The Dublin-born fighter continued his tirade at Smith by stating that he was in fact the most tested fighter in combat sports today:

"The audacity of this loser! @lionheartsmith you're a loser. The % of the bones joining back after a break like this is so low. You think I give a f**k about anything else. I am the most tested fighter of all time in combat. I give everything to this game. You - Nothing!"
