Conor McGregor vs. Jorge Masvidal "doesn't really make sense", but would be great story: Mike Malott (Exclusive)
UFC welterweight Mike Malott has revealed that he wanted to see Conor McGregor return to face Jorge Masvidal, but admitted that the fight wouldn't have made a lot of sense.
Malott is a Canadian MMA fighter (8-1-1) with one fight in the UFC so far in his career. The 31-year-old faced Mickey Gall at UFC 273 on his debut last year after he impressed in Dana White's Contender Series in 2021. 'Proper' enjoyed a dream start to his UFC career by defeating Gall via TKO inside the first-round.
Malott is set to make his second appearance for the UFC this weekend as he takes on Yohan Lainesse in a welterweight bout.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Mike Malott discussed his upcoming fight as well as the return of Conor McGregor. According to 'Proper', whilst he would have loved to see the Irishman face off against 'Gamebred', Gilbert Burns versus Jorge Masvidal is still a huge fight:
"I thought they would matchup Masvidal and McGregor, that would have been a sweet fight. That's just like a fun fight. It doesn't really make any sense but it's just like, let's watch these guys bang it out...I thought that would have been a cool fight, but, Burns and Masvidal is a bada** fight. You'll get the pride of Florida with that fight too."

Mike Malott weighs in on Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman 3
Despite being relatively new to the division, Mike Malott is paying close attention to what's happening at the top. Welterweight champion Leon Edwards is set to begin his first title defense when he takes on Kamaru Usman for their trilogy bout at UFC 286.
In the same interview with Sportskeeda MMA, the 31-year-old was asked about his thoughts on the fight. Malott stated that he's leaning towards 'The Nigerian Nightmare' recapturing his title, but admitted he wouldn't be surprised to see a completely different fight than the second as it's not being fought at elavation:
"I think it'll probably go towards Usman just because of the momentum of the fight [their UFC 278 clash] but there are alot of factors to consider. The fight was at elavation and Kamaru trains at elevation, whereas Edwards does not. Maybe when it's at a lower elevation, maybe it will favour Edwards a little more. I'm really not sure how that one will go."
