'Contender Series' alum lavishes praise on Sean Strickland, says former UFC middleweight champion is "very motivational"
A 'Contender Series' alum recently opened up about his experience training with Sean Strickland and what he has learned from him. He heaped praise on the former middleweight champion and noted that he brings the best out of his teammates.
Torrez Finney recently earned his UFC contract after a third consecutive win on the 'Contender Series'. He had gained plenty of attention on social media after Dana White criticized his performance following his second win. However, he used it as motivation and it paid off as he earned a decisive win and was awarded a contract.
'The Punisher' fights out of Agoge Combatives' gym but has displayed his eagerness to learn and occasionally gets some training in at Xtreme Couture, where 'Tarzan' resides. During his appearance on The Game Plan, Finney mentioned that Strickland isn't playing a character and praised him for being a positive influence on his development:
"I learn a lot of good things from Sean [Strickland]. Sean is definitely one of those guys you see what you see on TV, which he is that in-person but he's very motivational. He's a guy that pushes you, he's one of the team leaders at the gym...he means well....He's one of those guys that'll push you to the brink, so I really enjoy those training sessions with him and obviously look forward to many more." Sean Strickland encourages followers to build good character
Torrez Finney was correct when saying that Sean Strickland is a motivator as the former UFC middleweight champion recently encouraged his followers to work on building better character and morals.
Strickland took to his X account to sound off on people being materialistic and consuming themselves with money. He mentioned that character is more valuable than financial status:
"We have been conditioned to think our value is determined by what we own. Materialistic brain washing that has been force fed to us our entire lives. We have devalued what really matters, our character. Just a small reminder your value isn't determined by your bank account."
