"Crazy times we are living in" - Donald Trump and Elon Musk's assassination attempts alarms UFC veteran
As another powerful businessman would reveal on social media, Donald Trump was not the only public figure to be at the center of a recent assassination attempt. In his reaction to the gunshots fired at the former president on July 13, Elon Musk revealed that he had also recently had his life threatened.
Musk responded to a fan tweeting at him suggesting he improve his security following the attack on Trump by claiming two separate people have already tried to kill him in the last eight months. Musk's daunting revelation shocked former UFC title challenger Jake Shields, who reacted to the tweet with one of his own.
Shields tweeted:
"People have also tried to kill Elon Musk. Crazy times we are living in"
Musk did not reveal when the reported would-be shooters were caught, only reporting that they were 'arrested with guns about 20 minutes away from the Tesla headquarters in Texas.'
Since founding the automotive giant Tesla in 2008, Musk quickly rose to fame as one of the richest men in the United States. Since the success of Tesla, the 53-year-old has gone on to grow his company SpaceX, and purchase the social media platform previously known as Twitter in 2022.
Who was the gunman who shot at Donald Trump?
Donald Trump's assassination attempt shook up the world on July 13 and despite its publicity, little is known about the shooter who tried to take his life. The FBI have publicly identified the man as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old Pennsylvania native.
Nothing much beyond his identification is known about Crooks and no investigation has publicly determined his motive. President Joe Biden asked the public not to make any assumptions in his live statement on July 14 after many assumed that Crooks was an avid supporter of his candidacy.
ABC News reported that Crooks used his father's registered gun in the attack without the knowledge of his parents or other family members. The media source also reports that his family is cooperating with investigators who are still looking into a potential motive.
