Cris Cyborg reacts to Dana White slapping his wife during New Year's eve bash

Cris Cyborg weighed in on the controversy surrounding Dana White after a video was released of the UFC President in a confrontation with his wife, which ended with him slapping her.

Cyborg took to Twitter to share her thoughts on what she saw transpire in the video. She mentioned that the video contradicts what reporter Kevin Iole wrote in his column, writing:

"I watched the video and saw a larger man grab his wife by the arm aggressively and pull her into his personal space. That was the fist physical aggression in the video. @KevinI "when he chose to slap back after his wife first slapped him."

White apologized for the incident while speaking with TMZ Sports and said that there was no excuse for what transpired. He also mentioned that alcohol is what led to things getting physical between him and his wife on New Year's Eve, saying:

"You don't put your hands on a woman, ever. There was definitely a lot of alchohol involved, but that's no excuse...It's never happened before. It's the first time that it's ever happened."

He later continued:

"It just is what it is, and whatever people do say, it's deserved. I deserve it."

It is unclear whether there will be any reprocussions for the UFC President as this is a serious matter. If the promotion's ownership, Endeavor sees that the incident continues to have a negative impact on their stock price, and they could feel the need to step in and address it.

Cris Cyborg awaiting next fight with Bellator

Cris Cyborg has been waiting for her next opponent in Bellator since her successful title defense against Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 279 last April.

It's no secret that the promotion attempted to sign two-time PFL lightweight champion Kayla Harrison to challenge the reigning women's featherweight champion next, but the PFL matched Bellator's offer and she continued fighting in their 2022 season instead.

In the meantime, the 37-year-old MMA legend has competed in two boxing bouts and won both via unanimous decision. The most logical opponent would be Cat Zingano but if timing is an issue, the promotion could also give new signing Sara McMann the title shot.
