Dan Hooker elaborates on initial cryptic reaction to Dustin Poirier's four-man BMF tournament idea: "Don't get in a crazy-off with me"

Dan Hooker was enthralled by the idea of a four-man one-night BMF title tournament when Dustin Poirier initially proposed it during a recent interview. Now, 'The Hangman' has elaborated on the topic.

For context, Poirier first expressed his interest in getting back into the BMF title picture when he was presented with an innovative idea during an appearance on the MMA Today podcast.

According to the proposal, Poirier, Hooker, Justin Gaethje, and Max Holloway would lock horns in single night, four-man tournament for the coveted title. 'The Diamond' has a history with all three of these fighters. He is 1-1 against Gaethje and has a win over both Holloway and Hooker.

'The Hangman' responded to the proposal on social media by writing:

"Don't threaten me with a good time."

In a recent interview with The Mac Life, the No.4-ranked UFC lightweight elaborated on his initial enthusiasm, asserting that he would most certainly emerge the victor if the tournament were to take place:

"Yeah, it's a great idea, one night? Dustin said one night? It's like getting two car crashes on the same day... I would do it, we're having a crazy off, I'm probably going to win there... Don't get in a crazy-off with me brother."

Holloway currently holds the BMF strap, having won it with an exhilarating last-second highlight reel KO over Gaethje at UFC 300.

Dan Hooker wants to fight Conor McGregor

With top UFC lightweights already booked for fights, Dan Hooker believes he can capitalize on the opportunity and position himself as Conor McGregor's next opponent.

While the Irishman was originally set to face Michael Chandler on his MMA return, numerous delays have led 'Iron' to pursue a fight with his former opponent Charles Oliveira.

Speaking to Fox Sports Australia, 'The Hangman' claimed that he was going to have a word with McGregor regarding a potential fight at the upcoming BKFC Spain card:

"I'm actually heading over to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship in Spain next week, which Conor McGregor so happens to own. So yeah, by the end of next week [I] hopefully get a chance to either have a word to him and see if he is interested in the fight."
