Dan Hooker seemingly hints at facing Conor McGregor next after Michael Chandler fight falls through: "The Golden Goose is without a dance partner"

Conor McGregor vs. Dan Hooker is a fight that could now take place, as per 'The Hangman's' latest interview with Submission Radio. During the interview, Hooker touched on several topics, including the scrapped matchup between Michael Chandler and the Irishman.

As Hooker stated, he may now be in line for a bout with McGregor, especially with 'Iron' facing Charles Oliveira, a fighter that the New Zealander once aimed to face himself. When asked about the landscape of lightweight and all of the callouts he's now dealing with, Hooker wasted no time in sharing his thoughts.

"We'll just see how everything plays out. Obviously, the Golden Goose [Conor McGregor] is without a dance partner as well. Me and Conor have no ill will towards each other, I don't think ever."

Despite the absence of bad blood between the pair, Hooker was clear in his desire to face 'The Notorious' if given the opportunity. After all, McGregor still ranks among the most popular fighters in the world.

"It'll just be interesting. He's without a fight, I know Conor's hungry to fight, and fight someone he can get something from, and that makes a lot of sense."

This isn't the first time that Hooker has talked about a potential McGregor bout, nor is it a surprising outcome that the matchup between the Irishman and Chandler collapsed. Many predicted that the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion was making a mistake in sitting out in wait for McGregor.

Conor McGregor, Dan Hooker, and Michael Chandler have shared a card before

UFC 257 hosted Conor McGregor's rematch with Dustin Poirier, which the Irishman ultimately lost via second-round TKO. Curiously, the event also featured Dan Hooker's knockout loss to Michael Chandler in round one. All four men have been linked to each other in one way or another.

McGregor and Poirier have fought thrice, while Hooker has fought both Poirier and Chandler and is now aiming to face McGregor himself. Moreover, Poirier and Chandler have also fought each other.
