Dana White claims "lunatic" Paulo Costa lied about his UFC contract

Dana White claims that Paulo Costa is lying about his contract. As per the UFC president, the Brazilian is being paid much more than he is letting on.

Since last year specifically, Costa has been quite vocal about low fighter compensation in the UFC. In a recent interview with The MMA Hour, 'Borrachinha' claimed that the promotion tried to renew his contract, offering him an abysmal six-fight deal worth just $500K.

However, speaking on Bussin' With The Boys YouTube channel, White addressed the fighter pay issue and clapped back on Costa's claims, stating that the Brazilian was lying about the contract offer:

"I just had a situation recently and I'll tell you who it was. It was Paulo Costa. He is a f****g lunatic. He acts like a lunatic. And he came out publicly and kind of said what we offered him. It was the farthest f****g thing from the truth."

White continues to express his displeasure with the situation by saying:

"This was a while ago and this is the first time I've even talked about it, but it's just an example. See, these guys will say stuff like that because they know I won't talk about it publically. I really don't give a s**t."

When Dana White explained why UFC fighters can't be paid like boxers

Dana White believes that a company like UFC will surely go out of business if all fighters on its roster were to be paid humongous sums akin to what many boxers are paid.

During an interview on The Pivot Podcast, the UFC president suggested that most boxers are overpaid and explained why the UFC's payment format is different:

"With boxing too all those f*****g guys are overpaid and every time they put on a fight it's a going out of business sale. You know what I mean. [It's like] we're going to get as much money as we can from you guys and then we're out of here. See you in three years."

White further explained his thoughts on how a business runs:

"You can't build a league like that, you can't build a sport [like that]. You can't have 750 fighters under contract making money, feeding their families every year with that kind of mentality. It doesn't work. You have to run a business."
