Dana White clears the air on rumors of being pushed out of promoting Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford: "These guys don't talk"
Dana White gave his take on the reports of him not promoting the superfight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford. White underlined how boxing operates behind the scenes, citing his active position as a promoter.
For context, Turki Alalshikh, Sela, and TKO Group Holdings teamed up to form a new boxing company led by White and WWE executive Nick Khan. Its first goal was to bring Alvarez and Crawford on board for a megafight.
Alalshikh previously announced that the undisputed super middleweight title matchup will take place on Sep. 13, and it will be promoted by him and White. However, the Saudi personality later revealed that Sela will promote the highly anticipated contest for the Riyadh Season, leaving fans wondering about White.
''We have confirmed the promoter for Canelo vs. Crawford will be Sela for Riyadh Season. The broadcaster we have not decided yet but the date will be Saturday 13th September. More details soon."
A reporter questioned whether White was released from his position as a promoter during this past weekend's UFC 316 post-fight news conference. In response, the UFC CEO said:
''I'm gonna tell you what's awesome, man. So there's a lot of fu*ked up things about boxing, but they don't say sh*t, mean, nobody talks. It's the most amazing thing. If we sign a deal, I got to fu*king get on my phone quick and go, hey, we just fu*king... Because 90,000 people will be out there talking about it. These guys don't talk. I'm promoting the fight.''
