Dana White dismisses possibility of professional repercussions for slapping his wife

Dana White's implication that he has been sufficiently punished now that his public image has been irreparably tarnished does not sit well with a large portion of the sporting community.

Several fans believe that while living with the guilt of slapping his wife on New Year's Eve is a personal consequence, the UFC president must also face professional repercussions. White has already apologized for slapping his wife and urged that his actions should not be defended. (Video via: @TalbertSwan on Twitter)

This wild statement by Dana White epitomizes white male privilege

Synopsis:

I’m filthy rich so suspending me won’t hurt me

We’ve had discussions, don’t like what happened, but won’t do anything

My punishment is being labeled and losing respect

There will be no repercussions https://t.co/HZbx2Uw192

The incident was brought up once again at the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference. Dana White was asked by a reporter about the narrative that the UFC president deserves professional repercussions for his conduct. White replied:

"The only thing that matters is my personal life. What else is there? What should it be [professional consequnces]?"

Speaking about whether there was any conversation regarding White stepping down from his position, he added:

"I told you, I was going to leave in 2016 with the sale.... could have sat out during COVID-19. What should my punishment be? What matters other than my personal life?"

Earlier last week, Dana White asserted that after the Fertitta brothers sold a majority stake in Zuffa, the parent company of the UFC, to Endeavor Group in July 2016, he intended to leave the organization.

NBA star Kyle Kuzma questions media bias during Dana White slap incident

Dana White's apology and acknowledgement of his inexcusable actions do not appear to be sufficient for those who believe the UFC president should face additional consequences. Others have criticized the mainstream media for being biased in their condemnation of White for hitting his wife on New Year's Eve.

White stated during the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference that the personal consequences he will face as a result of the incident are sufficient, dismissing any professional repercussions entirely. The lack of coverage of the event by mainstream media has also been criticized by netizens.

Dana White speaking earlier about slapping his wife said: “People should not be defending me over this thing.”

I just hope those scumbags crying “but she hit him first” all shut the fuck up now. Like…all the way up!
