Dana White doubles down on Jon Jones being best pound-for-pound fighter, says those who don't agree "should never be discussing fighting"

Dana White recently doubled down on his views on Jon Jones and the best pound-for-pound fighter debate. The UFC CEO has been adamant that it is undeniable that the heavyweight champion should occupy the No. 1 spot while he is competing.

Despite his views on the debate, it doesn't appear that the majority of fans agree as there has been an ongoing debate on whether 'Bones' belongs on the top of the list. The reason many fans dispute his comments regarding the heavyweight champion is that he hasn't been as active as others like Islam Makhachev and Alex Pereira.

During his appearance on today's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the UFC CEO confirmed that a bout between 'Bones' and 'Poatan' will not be happening and sounded off on the pound-for-pound debate. White mentioned that Jones is clearly the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and stated that those who feel otherwise shouldn't be discussing the sport. He said:

"Everybody on the internet's stupid...Anybody who thinks Jon Jones isn't the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world should never be discussing fighting ever. Period, end of story."

Dana White heaps praise on growth of MMA in Australia

In addition to sharing his thoughts on the debate surrounding Jon Jones' place in the best pound-for-pound fighters debate, Dana White heaped praise on the growth of MMA in Australia.

During the aforementioned appearance, White mentioned that the sport's popularity has grown significantly compared to when the UFC first hosted an event there. He said:

"When we first went to Australia, there was one guy in the whole country I think or two guys maybe that were involved in mixed martial arts and look at how that's exploded. You have world champions and multiple people in the top-15 in different weight classes." [1:51:28 - 1:51:41]
