Dana White gives update on Robert Whittaker's horrific jaw injury from Khamzat Chimaev submission, reveals conversation with 'Borz'

Dana White recently shared an update on Robert Whittaker's condition following his clash with Khamzat Chimaev. White then went on to share details about his conversation with Chimaev.

Whittaker took on Chimaev in the co-main event of UFC 308 this past Saturday. Unfortunately for the former champion, he suffered a first-round submission defeat, breaking his jaw in the process.

During the UFC 308 post-event press conference, White was asked about Whittaker's injury. The UFC CEO responded:

''As soon as that happened, I picked up the phone and I called the truck and they're like 'yeah, his jaw popped' so I knew what had happened... he popped his jaw... and the teeth got all messed up, Rob [Whittaker] has that right now.''

White then disclosed his conversation with Chimaev after the fight, saying:

''I just said congratulations, great fight, and we'll talk to you soon.''

Both fighters entered the middleweight bout in hopes of challenging for the title next. However, the contest did not go well for the former champion, as Chimaev wasted no time in taking Whittaker to the ground with his exceptional wrestling prowess.

Chimaev dominated the grappling exchanges and prevented Whittaker from getting back to his feet. He then went on to submit the 33-year-old with a rear-naked choke that resulted in the dislocation of Whittaker's jaw.

During the aforementioned presser, Chimaev said he felt bad for his opponent's injury:

"Before I come in here, they show [a picture of Whittaker's injury] to me but I felt something was wrong with his chin when I push it. So, feel bad for that, didn't mean to [break] somebody's chin. But this is my work, you know. Make somebody pain and make me happy and my family."
