Dana White reveals Nevada Commission's justification for controversial Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov scorecard, says he apologized to the latter

Dana White recently opened up on his conversation with the Nevada Commission's head about the Ciryl Gane vs. Alexander Volkov matchup at UFC 310. While White believes Volkov won, the UFC CEO claimed that the committee felt the second round was extremely tight and might have gone to any of the fighters.

For context, Gane squared off against Volkov in a rematch at UFC 310 this past weekend. The heavyweight contest took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Frenchman was coming off a second-round knockout victory against Serghei Spivac at UFC Fight Night 226 last year. Meanwhile, Volkov entered the fight on a four-fight win streak, with the last being a unanimous decision win against Sergei Pavlovich at UFC Saudi Arabia.

Volkov took the fight to the ground in the opening minutes, but Gane managed to get back on his feet. At the end of the first round, 'Bon Gamin' had Volkov in a tight guillotine choke before time ran out.

In the second frame, Volkov landed some hard shots. The third round saw both men spending much time on the ground and ended with Volkov on top.

In the end, the bout went the distance and Gane was declared the winner via split decision, which surprised fans present in the arena.

During the post-fight conference, White addressed the controversial result as many felt Volkov did enough to get his hand raised. When asked about his interaction with the commission's head, the 55-year-old said:

''You heard the boos, I went over to Volkov, I apologized to him. I thought he won the fight and the head of the commission came over and said, 'Listen we feel like that second round was really close and could have gone either way.' They were making the argument on why the fight was judged the way it was.''
