Dana White sounds off on "f**king brutal" sports betting after DWCS event: "It makes the game miserable"
Dana White has chimed in with his opinion regarding sports betting and the variables associated with it. The UFC CEO and president seemingly cautioned others against sports betting.
White is known to be an exceptional entrepreneur, be it in regard to making smart investments or when it comes to sealing top-tier business deals. Additionally, he often partakes in recreational gambling and has been praised for being a prolific gambler.
During the DWCS 70 (Dana White's Contender Series 70) post-event press conference, White recently addressed various topics. The discussion veered toward the myriad of underdog victories that transpire under the UFC-affiliated DWCS banner.
On that note, a reporter indicated that parlay bets almost always backfire at DWCS events, alluding to the high number of underdog wins. For context, a parlay bet implies a combination of multiple bets into one unit, which brings a considerably greater payout if each bet proves right. Alternatively, you could face a total loss if even one of the bets proves wrong.
White responded by pointing out the inherent risk of parlay bets and stated:
"Well, any time you have a parlay in any sport, I mean, parlays are dangerous that's why everybody does them. Everybody does them because the reward is so good you can't help yourself."
Dana White implied that if you mostly bet on favorites in a parlay, the profits would likely be minimal as opposed to betting on underdogs. He further underscored the dangers of sports betting in general and said:
"Sports betting is f**king brutal. I don't do it. I stopped doing it a long time ago. It drives me -- 'Yeah, but it's more fun if you think.' No, it's not more fun. It actually makes the game miserable. And, but, yeah, if you like sports betting, this is one that, actually, where underdogs really do win."

UFC boss Dana White's gambling brilliance
Dana White has spearheaded the UFC since assuming the position of its president back in 2001. One of his fellow UFC personalities, veteran color commentator Joe Rogan, has time and again praised White for his leadership skills as well as his gambling prowess.
On episode 1824 of his JRE (Joe Rogan Experience) podcast, Rogan spoke to Lex Fridman and explained that White is incredibly wealthy and has a penchant for betting substantial sums. The podcast mogul explained that White is such an outstanding gambler that he's been banned by multiple casinos. Rogan noted:
"He's so good they kick him out of casinos ... The most he's ever won on a night is $7 million. The most he ever lost on a night is $1 million."
Incidentally, Dana White appeared on Fridman's podcast earlier this year and recounted an intriguing story. White asserted that after a night of drinking and celebrating with his friends, he gambled and thought he'd lost $80k. Nevertheless, in a subsequent conversation with the hotel staff, he realized that he'd lost $3 million that night.
As per Celebrity Net Worth, White's net worth was reportedly $500 million. The 55-year-old continues breaking barriers as a businessperson, combat sports promoter, and gambling savant.
