Jon Jones to face Stipe Miocic in UFC 309 main event
Dana White has confirmed that Jon Jones will defend his heavyweight championship against former titleholder Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309. The event is set to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 16.
The highly anticipated matchup was originally scheduled for a previous UFC event in New York but was postponed due to Jones' injury. Now fully recovered, Jones will return to the octagon to face one of the most formidable opponents in the heavyweight division.
Miocic, a former two-time heavyweight champion, holds the record for the most successful title defenses in UFC history. Despite a recent hiatus from competition, Miocic's skills and experience make him a formidable challenger for Jones.
White has also indicated that if Jones successfully defends his title against Miocic, a unification fight with Tom Aspinall could be the next step. Aspinall, a rising star in the heavyweight division, has showcased impressive knockout power and a dominant fighting style.
