Danial Williams says Muay Thai return will help him build ‘more confidence’ as he seeks to extend winning ways
Three-sport superstar Danial Williams plans to continue entertaining fans when he returns to Muay Thai.
Heading into ONE Fight Night 25, Williams was coming off three consecutive losses (one in MMA and two in Muay Thai). The Aussie's latest challenge was an MMA matchup against Banma Duoji, who was coming off a solid unanimous decision win against Walter Goncalves in July 2023.
Williams utilized his experience and aggression to defeat Duoji by unanimous decision. The 31-year-old won't be sidelined long, as he's already looking to make a return to Muay Thai in late 2024 or early 2025.
During an interview with Sportskeeda, Williams had this to say about benefiting from added confidence moving forward:
"I'll have a lot more confidence everywhere and I can let my hands go a little bit, make more highlight reels and give the audience what they deserve."
Danial Williams is one of the few fighters to compete in three different sports under the ONE Championship banner. Following ONE Fight Night 25, 'Mini T' has four victories in the promotion.
Williams' latest fight took place inside the legendary Lumpinee BStadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The entire ONE Fight Night 25 event can be rewatched by North American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Danial Williams maintains hope of securing ONE gold
Danial Williams' ONE Championship tenure has featured fights against several current or former world champions - Jonathan Di Bella, Superlek, and Rodtang.
Williams has established a solid resume and highlight reel during his promotional tenure but hasn't accomplished his primary goal. 'Mini T' is focused on claiming ONE gold before he retires one day. Luckily, he should have a few more opportunities considering he competes in three sports.
Firstly, Williams must continue building momentum with a few more wins. The Aussie strawweight also has a better chance of fighting for gold again since he's willing to fight anyone at any time.
It's unclear who Williams will fight next in Muay Thai. Luckily, fans can expect entertainment whenever 'Mini T' is added to an event, regardless of the opponent.
