"Daniel Cormier is the biggest liar" - Teammate accuses former UFC champion of making false claim about Islam Makhachev sparring session
Luke Rockhold has launched a bold accusation against his former teammate, Daniel Cormier, labeling the UFC legend the “biggest liar.” The controversy arose over Cormier claiming that Rockhold had been submitted by Islam Makhachev during training, a statement Rockhold emphatically denied.
Speaking on the Jaxxon podcast, Rockhold was questioned directly about the sparring rumor by co-host Rampage Jackson. Rockhold categorically denied tapping to Makhachev and shifted the blame onto Cormier:
“He has never submitted me [Islam]. I love the guy he is dangerous he’s hard as hell. Daniel Cormier is the biggest liar. How do you think he makes good TV? Cause he just lies his way through TV,”
Despite the escalating drama, Rockhold maintained respect for Makhachev’s abilities. When pressed further, he clarified that the lightweight champion remains a formidable force in the UFC and predicted Makhachev would dominate Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311.

John McCarthy voices his thoughts on Luke Rockhold’s comments about Daniel Cormier
Luke Rockhold's accusations against former teammate Daniel Cormier have sparked debate in the MMA community, with John McCarthy commenting on the situation on the WEIGHING IN podcast.
McCarthy expressed skepticism over Rockhold’s remarks, saying:
"That’s a hard one to believe...There has got to be some point in training where he was giving a position, or starting off in a bad thing for Islam, and Islam was working a technique, and he taps out – that’s being submitted, you know? Sorry. That’s just the way training is, and if you’re worried about it, this is not the sport for you. Tapping out in training is the best and smartest thing you can do, okay? Because that keeps you from being hurt and it helps your teammates get better, and all of it. So, when he says that, I’m not quite buying it.”
