Daniel Cormier breaks down a potential matchup between Jamahal Hill and Jiri Prochazka

Daniel Cormier is beyond excited for a future showdown between current light heavyweight king Jamahal Hill and former champion Jiri Prochazka.

In a recent video posted to his YouTube channel, 'DC' stated that he is "all in" for a matchup between the two elite light heavyweights. However, Cormier believes it'll be a tall order for Prochazka to defeat Hill and re-claim his title.

Although Cormier considers both fighters to be extremely talented, Hill's recent performance against Glover Teixeira in Brazil has clearly won over the UFC Hall of Famer. The former two-division champion said:

"I'm telling you, spending that time with Jamahal Hill in Brazil, his calmness, his ability to deal in the face of adversity, his ability to understand and recognize that he's on the cusp of something great and not let it hinder him as we get to 10 seconds, it's nothing I've seen before in person and I don't know if I'd favor any light heavyweight in the world to beat this guy right now."

Jiri Prochazka became the first-ever Czech champion in UFC history when he defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 275 last year. Unfortunately, he opted to vacate the title after suffering a shoulder injury in the lead-up to UFC 282, which is expected to sideline him until atleast this summer.

Meanwhile, with his recent title win at UFC 283, Jamahal Hill became the first Dana White's Contender Series alumn to win a UFC championship. A fight between the two appears inevitable.

Jamahal Hill on potential fight against Alex Pereira

Although newly crowned champion Jamahal Hill has made it abundantly clear that Jiri Prochazka is his first choice for his maiden title defense, he is open to other challengers if Prochazka can't recover in time.

Glover Teixiera's teammate and protegè Alex Pereira has shown interest in a fight against Hill. The reigning middleweight champion even offered himself up as a challenger if Prochazka's return is delayed, replying to one of Hill's posts on social media:

"I heard Prochazka is injured. What about knocking me out ?"

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Hill shared that he is open to a fight against Pereira and claimed that he would knock out the Brazilian if they were to clash:

"We can get that, we can get that cracking. If he want to come on up and try his luck with that, come on in... I think I knock him out and I do."

A fight between Jamahal Hill and Alex Pereira seems unlikely as things stand as the Brazilian has now been booked to defend his middleweight strap against former foe Israel Adesanya at UFC 287 in April. However, if both fighters win their next fights, it's certainly plausible.
