Daniel Cormier calls out Din Thomas to debate Alexander Volkanovski versus Islam Makhachev

Daniel Cormier is calling out Din Thomas to come and debate him about Alexander Volkanovski vs. Islam Makhachev at UFC 284. The UFC Hall of Famer believes it would be a massive upset if the featherweight champion were to dethrone the lightweight champion.

Cormier uploaded a video to his YouTube channel where he discussed a number of fights that are expected to take place in the coming months. While discussing Volkanovski vs. Makhachev, he explained his reasoning why a victorious outcome for 'Volk' would be considered an upset:

"Guys, maybe it isn't the biggest upset in UFC history [as he previously claimed]... That might've been a bit of a stretch, but can you really look at that and think that the smaller guy going up and beating the bigger guy is not an upset? The bigger guy's supposed to win because even though I won [coming down from heavyweight to light heavyweight], it was an upset, right? I was the underdog as is Alexander 'The Great.'" [8:35 - 9:03]

'DC' explained why the reigning featherweight champion wants to challenge himself by going up to 155 lbs. He then hilariously issued a challenge to Din Thomas:

"He [Alexander Volkanovski] wants bigger. He wants greater. And if he gets greater, I stand by my word, Din Thomas, it would be one of the bigger upsets in UFC history. But all you gotta do my friend, answer the Zoom call, Din, let's do this baby [debate]. Let's go."

It's important to note that both Cormier and Makhachev are members of AKA and close personal friends as well.

Daniel Cormier believes Leon Edwards will have the edge over Kamaru Usman in their trilogy fight

Still can’t believe Leon Edwards’ KO of Kamaru Usman last night 😱 @espnmma #UFC278

Daniel Cormier weighed in on the planned trilogy bout between reigning UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman.

'DC' uploaded a video to his YouTube channel, where he talked about the trilogy and analyzed who would have the edge in that fight as they both split wins in their first two matchups.

'DC' mentioned that he believes 'Rocky' would have the edge over 'The Nigerian Nightmare' because of what transpired in their rematch:

"In 24:20 of the fight, you feel like Usman was the better fighter. But they say you fight the entire time. And 'Rocky' Edwards showed that as long as there's time on the clock, you could get the job done. And the confidence that comes with that cannot be understated." [13:30 - 13:48]

It will be interesting to see how both fighters perform in a trilogy bout. Usman will need to be aware of head-kicks. Meanwhile, Edwards would need to continue making improvements with his wrestling as he would almost certainly have lost on the scorecards if he hadn't miraculously knocked out 'The Nigerian Nightmare' in the fifth round.
