Daniel Cormier narrates terrifying plane incident on way back home from UFC 305: "It's over, today's my day"

Daniel Cormier recently opened up about a terrifying incident on a plane that happened on his way home after commentating at UFC 305. Cormier acknowledged that, in the moment, he believed it was his last day and that he would die as a result of the incident.

Cormier worked as a commentator and analyst at UFC 305, the UFC pay-per-view that took place this past weekend in Perth, Australia. In a recent episode of the Good Guy/Bad Guy podcast, 'DC' discussed the incident that took place on his way back to America (via Sydney) with co-host Chael Sonnen.

The former double champion revealed that a bird apparently caused a hole in the plane, which delayed his return trip.

''My flight coming back to Sydney, from wherever they were coming from, a bird goes into the plane, they are going so fast that the bird rips a bit of a hole in the side of the plane, so they tell us that there’s a hole in the side of the plane, we’re going to be delaying the flight, possibly being canceled.”

Cormier added that the authorities informed him that the incident might cause a delay. However, 10 minutes later, 'DC' was asked to board the plane, leaving him terrified for his life.

''We get on the plane, all the lights go off, the air conditioning goes, I’m thinking... It's over, today’s my day, my heart is beating as fastest has ever beat in my entire life.''

Daniel Cormier discusses Dricus du Plessis' next step

Dricus du Plessis established himself as the kingpin of the middleweight division after defeating Israel Adesanya via submission at UFC 305. Prior to UFC 305, UFC CEO Dana White announced that former champion Sean Strickland is next in line for the middleweight title. However, the winner of the Robert Whittaker vs. Khamzat Chimaev fight at UFC 308 could shake up the title picture.

In the aforementioned podcast, Daniel Cormier shared his thoughts on what's next for du Plessis, saying (10:34):

''I do believe that there's room for Chimaev to work his way in there, and the Pereira thing, that would have me going, but DDP already said, 'It doesn't have to be at 85, I'm not giving you no excuse, I'll come to 205 and fight you' and after watching him [du Plessis], I don't know that he don't do well against Alex.''
