Daniel Cormier reveals what he whispered in Ilia Topuria's ear inside octagon that made 'El Matador' crack up
Daniel Cormier recently opened up about what he told Ilia Topuria that made the reigning featherweight champion chuckle. This came after Topuria's win against Max Holloway at UFC 308.
Cormier went on X and answered a fan's question regarding what he said to Topuria that made the Spaniard laugh during their in-ring interview. The UFC Hall of Famer stated that he revealed the scoreline between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, with the former behind their arch-rival by two goals at the time.
''That Real Madrid was down 2-0 lmao''
Topuria, a devoted Real Madrid supporter, had already complained about the El Classico's scheduling conflict with his title matchup with Holloway. He even joked about taking on La Liga President Javier Tebas next.
As for the MMA scene, Topuria successfully defended his featherweight title by defeating Holloway by third-round knockout in the main event of UFC 308. Topuria fulfilled his earlier promise to be the first fighter to knockout Holloway.
Following a closely fought opening round, Topuria downed Holloway with a left hook in Round 3 after wobbling him with a blazing right hand. Referee Marc Goddard had to step in and end the bout after the Spaniard launched a flurry of blows.
Following the fight, Cormier posted a YouTube video where he praised Topuria for his excellent performance, saying:
''This kid [Topuria] tells you time and time again that he's different, that he's special...I don't know if we have ever seen a guy at 145 that punches like this dude. He hits like no one I've ever seen...he has that power to knock you out and do it in just absolutely devastating fashion.''
