Danielle Kelly’s advice for kids dealing with bullying in school - turn to jiu-jitsu
Reigning and undisputed ONE women's atomweight submission grappling world champion Danielle Kelly of the United States grew up being constantly bullied in school for her small size, and the fact that she had difficulty making friends.
It was only when she learned jiu-jitsu that the 28-year-old superstar gained the self-confidence she needed to overcome bullying.
That being said, the Silver Fox BJJ proponent has a message for all the youth dealing with bullying in the world today.
She said on a guest appearance on The Few Will Hunt show:
"When I tell kids, especially, like, they need advice or something, I tell them, just put your kids [in jiu-jitsu]. Make them compete. Because most people are always nervous when they're competing. It's adrenaline. Once you let it out, and especially in school, no one wants to fight in school."
Kelly continued:
"Everyone's trying to go about their day. But then [again], you have people who are just going to school because they want to pick on kids because they think they're tough."
Many people turn to jiu-jitsu not just to learn self-defense, but to improve overall character and gain the strength necessary to maintain peace.
Catch Kelly in action again very soon when she heads back to the ONE Championship ring.
