Danielle Kelly sees Demetrious Johnson-Adriano Moraes III generating immense viewership
Danielle Kelly believes the trilogy fight between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes will receive a massive amount of attention.
On May 5, ONE Championship will make its North American debut at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. The event is headlined by Johnson vs. Moraes III, a highly anticipated flyweight world championship fight.
During an interview with ONE, Kelly, an American Brazilian jiu-jitsu phenom, had this to say about the trilogy fight:
“I like Demetrious Johnson… yes, Adriano. Really cool people. A lot of people like DJ, He's a popular name in MMA so I think that would bring a lot of views and fans into the event.”
In April 2021, Moraes pulled off a massive upset by finishing Johnson with a vicious second-round KO. ‘Mighty Mouse’ bounced back in a mixed-rules bout against Rodtang before avenging his loss to ‘Mikinho’ with a flying knee at ONE on Prime Video 1.
The trilogy fight in May will mark a massive opportunity for either fighter to further their legacy.
Danielle Kelly wasn’t expecting either of her $50,000 performance bonuses
Danielle Kelly made her ONE submission grappling debut in 2022. The American BJJ superstar competed twice, with a draw against former ONE MMA world title challenger Mei Yamaguchi and a win against Mariia Molchanova inside the distance. Kelly was awarded a $50,000 performance bonus for both grappling matches.
During an interview with ONE, she had this to say about being surprised to receive the bonuses:
“Yes and it’s gonna get harder as time goes by. Like the whole bonuses I don’t always expect it, I wasn’t expecting it the first time. I definitely wasn’t expecting it the second time. I feel like I should’ve cried more the second time because I wasn’t expecting it… Because my first one was I guess I got a draw, I don’t know if they took that now as a win because they changed the rules. But yeah I wasn’t expecting either of them.”
Danielle Kelly returns to the circle against Ayaka Miura at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video in February.
The event is headlined by a rematch between John Lineker and Fabricio Andrade for the ONE bantamweight world championship. It can be seen on Amazon Prime Video live for all North American subscribers.
