Danielle Kelly is “staying focused” in her training camp ahead of career-defining world title defense against Mayssa Bastos
Danielle Kelly isn't letting her vision veer off from her all-important mission in Bangkok.
The reigning ONE atomweight submission grappling world champion will defend her throne against Mayssa Bastos in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 24 on August 2 at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.
Kelly, who'll be making her first defense of her world title, has been complementing her training camp with trips to Droogs MMA in Pottstown, Pennsylvania in preparation for her showdown against Bastos.
Taking to Instagram, Danielle Kelly shared some of the scenes of her training camp ahead of what she often described as arguably the most important fight of her career.
She wrote:
"Staying focused 🔥 Video by @shotbykenny.mp4. Thankful to everyone from @droogsmma for pushing me this camp and letting me stop by to get rolls in!"
The Philadelphia native captured the biggest win of her career when she outlasted old nemesis and IBJJF world champion Jessa Khan at ONE Fight Night 14 in Singapore.
Kelly, however, is heading into another match that could define her career.
Bastos is one of the most credentialed female submission grapplers ever, and the Brazilian star holds nine Brazilian jiu-jitsu world titles under her name.
ONE Fight Night 24, just like all of ONE Championship's Amazon cards, is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Danielle Kelly says she's ready to silence her critics in world title defense against Mayssa Bastos
Danielle Kelly knows what Mayssa Bastos has achieved, and she's doubling down on her underdog mentality ahead of ONE Fight Night 24.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Kelly said that Bastos would be the heavy favorite heading into their match in Bangkok.
Kelly, however, is ready to show why he deserves to sit on the throne and retain the ONE atomweight submission grappling world title.
"I think I'm going to be overlooked, and I can't wait to prove people wrong," said Kelly.
