Danny Kingad gaining steam with his new team Lions Nation MMA: “Our passion for training is still there”

Danny Kingad feels more empowered to explore different areas of training under his new team.

After years as a member of the iconic Team Lakay, 'The King' joined longtime comrades Eduard Folayang, Kevin Belignon, and many others at their new gym, Lions Nation MMA.

Speaking with Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, Kingad offered some insight into how his new team is different and—in many ways—better than his old one.

"I think we’re more free in terms of training. It’s different from before because back then, we usually focused on specific things. Now, we get to explore which areas we want. But our passion for training is still there, and our goal to get to World Championship level remains."

After going 2-3 in his last five, Kingad will look to get back into title contention when he returns to martial arts' biggest global stage this November for a high-stakes clash against a former ONE flyweight MMA world titleholder.

Danny Kingad meets Adriano Moraes at ONE 169 in Bangkok

On Friday, November 8, Danny Kingad will square off with former eight-time ONE world champion Adriano Moraes as part of a loaded ONE 169 card inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

'The King' will look to climb back into the win column for the first time since February 2023 while simultaneously setting himself up for a shot at the recently vacated ONE flyweight MMA world title. But to get there, he'll have to go through one of the most decorated and well-rounded flyweights in the history of the sport.

Adriano Moraes will be making his first appearance since coming up short in his iconic trilogy bout with Demetrious Johnson at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. Still holding strong as the division's top-ranked contender, 'Mikinho' could be next in line for the vacant flyweight crown, assuming he gets past Kingad in The Land of Smiles.

Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 169: Malykhin vs. ‘Reug Reug’ live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, November 8 in U.S. primetime.
