Danny Kingad says he isn't the same fighter that faced Adriano Moraes years back: "It's totally a different case now"
Danny Kingad is out to prove a point on his return at ONE 169, where he'll be motivated by revenge.
The Filipino contender has overcome several setbacks under the ONE Championship banner. But now, on Nov. 8, he has the chance to rewrite a previous shortcoming by beating Adriano Moraes in a high-stakes rematch at flyweight.
His first fight with the Brazilian came in Kingad's fourth fight with the promotion back in 2017 and saw his three-fight win streak come to a sudden end.
After being submitted by Moraes in the opening round, 'The King' went on a staggering six-fight win streak to put himself right back in the mix. Though he's alternated wins and losses against top contenders since that point, it all comes back to him crossing paths with 'Mikinho' for a second time.
The point that he's out to prove at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, is how far he has come and improved since that first meeting six years ago.
Kingad told ONE Championship in a recent interview that he has no other distractions now so he can perform to his absolute best:
"Back then, I was still studying. It's totally a different case now. Right now, I'm truly focused. I'm ready for him."
Both Danny Kingad and Adriano Moraes have been busy
Since their fight in 2017, both Danny Kingad and Adriano Moraes have accomplished a lot in ONE Championship.
Whilst Kingad has faced off with many of the top contenders and beaten them, he never got the chance to face off with his former foe again despite the Brazilian being at the very top of the weight class.
With the belt now vacant following Demetrious Johnson's retirement, Moraes will be out to reclaim the world championship once again.
If Kingad can get his revenge on Nov. 8, it would be the biggest win of his career to date.
