Danny Kingad says it will be an honor to duel Rodtang in a mixed-rules match: “I’m ready for it”
Filipino MMA fighter Danny Kingad is open to competing against Thai superstar and ONE flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a dream mixed-rules match under ONE Championship.
The Lions Nation MMA affiliate bared this in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, asserting that mixed-rules matches are something he is keen on doing apart from straight up MMA and to do it against a fighter like 'The Iron Man' would be an honor for him.
Danny Kingad said:
"I really want to be part of a mixed-rules match. I hope that I get a chance to compete in this kind of fight. Of course, I'd want it to be a mix of MMA and Muay Thai or kickboxing to keep it in striking. If Rodtang wants to go, I'm ready for it.
While mixed-rules matches are going to be something new for Danny Kingad in ONE, for Rodtang it is not, as he already competed in one back in March 2022 in Singapore. There 'The Iron Man' took on now-retired MMA legend Demetrious Johnson in a special rules super-fight (Muay Thai-MMA-Muay Thai-MMA) but lost by submission in the second round.
Danny Kingad stays in MMA in upcoming fight
While he awaits for his dream mixed-rules match with Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Danny Kingad stays in the MMA lane for his scheduled match next month in Thailand.
'The King' will battle familiar foe in Adriano Moraes at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 in Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium. It is part of the stacked event which will be aired live and for free in U.S. prime time to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Kingad enters the contest eager to bounce back after absorbing a loss in his previous match in January while also shooting for a telling win that would put him in a position to vie for the currently vacant ONE flyweight MMA world title.
Kingad and Moraes first met in November 2017, with 'Mikinho' winning by submission in the opening round to retain the ONE flyweight MMA world title he was then holding.
