Danny Kingad taking the "necessary steps" to be at 100 percent for Adriano Moraes barnburner at ONE 169
Danny Kingad is taking "the necessary steps" to ensure he brings his A-game in his crucial flyweight MMA fixture against Adriano Moraes.
Seven years ago, Kingad's undefeated record was ended due to a first-round submission loss against then-ONE flyweight MMA world champion Adriano Moraes. Since then, the Filipino superstar has endured many more ups and downs in his ONE Championship tenure, leading to a massive opportunity in his near future.
On Nov. 8, ONE 169 will feature Kingad taking on Moraes. Heading into the matchup, Kingad and Moraes are coming off losses, with the latter suffering a world-title defeat against Demetrious Johnson and the former coming up short against Yuya Wakamatsu.
During an interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Danny Kingad had this to say about focusing on his recovery to prepare for his rematch against Moraes:
"I’m doing the necessary steps to plan out my recovery so that I will be at my best against Adriano."
ONE 169 will feature several action-packed matchups, including Anatoly Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' Oumar Kane (heavyweight MMA), Rodtang Jitmuangnon vs. Jacob Smith (flyweight MMA), Christian Lee vs. Alibeg Rasulov (lightweight MMA), and more.
The upcoming event takes place inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium, with North American and Canadian viewers can watch the event live and for free using their active Amazon Prime Video subscriptions.
What's at stake between Adriano Moraes and Danny Kingad?
Earlier this year, Demetrious Johnson made an emotional appearance at ONE 168: Denver. The MMA legend officially announced his retirement from the sport, leading to his flyweight world title being vacated.
Therefore, Adriano Moraes and Danny Kingad are fighting for an opportunity to be featured in the vacant flyweight MMA world title fight. Moraes is attempting to extend his legacy by recapturing the belt, while Kingad plans to etch his name into promotional history with ONE gold.
ONE Championship has not confirmed who will fight for the vacant throne. Although it's unconfirmed, the winner of the winner of Moraes vs. Kingad and number two-ranked Yuya Wakamatsu is a primary candidate, as the Japanese star is coming off consecutive wins against Xie Wei (first-round knockout) and Kingad (unanimous decision).
