Darren Till has returned to Thailand a month-and-a-half removed from crushing defeat against Dricus du Plessis
Darren Till has seemingly returned to Thailand to train despite having competed in a grueling fight against Dricus du Plessis just a month and a half ago. Till faced du Plessis in a long-awaited middleweight matchup at UFC 282 on December 10th, 2022.
The fight witnessed 'The Gorilla' get outworked throughout round one. That said, Till rallied in the second round and appeared to be getting the better of his South African foe. However, the third and final round saw du Plessis take control once again and stop Till with a face-crank submission hold.
It marked the UK native's third consecutive defeat inside the octagon. Considering the aforementioned variables at play, many speculated that Darren Till might take a break from training and competition. Regardless, the former UFC welterweight title challenger seems to have chosen to get right back into training just a few weeks after being in a punishing MMA bout.
Till has previously trained at the Astra Fight Team in Brazil as well as gyms such as Team Kaobon and MTK Global in the UK. The 30-year-old UFC star has also trained at the Allstars Training Center in Sweden and at the world-renowned Tiger Muay Thai gym in Thailand.
Taking to his official Twitter account, Till has now posted an emoji signifying the flag of Thailand and suggested that he's returned to the Asian nation to train. 'The Gorilla' tweeted:
"Back in my favourite place"
UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards sends a heartfelt message to compatriot Darren Till
Darren Till has lost five of his last six MMA bouts and is on a three-fight losing streak. The Liverpudlian has been pursuing the UFC middleweight title over the past few years. Nevertheless, his recent setbacks have cast him out of the title picture. Additionally, after his latest loss, Till insinuated that he'll likely step away from the UFC for some time.
During a recent UFC 286 press conference, fellow UK native Leon Edwards offered words of encouragement to Darren Till. Edwards alluded to the fact that 'The Gorilla' was once one of the top prospects in MMA. Furthermore, the UFC welterweight champion suggested that Till ought to rediscover the confidence he possessed a few years back. 'Rocky' stated:
"For me, I just want to see Darren do well, you know? I feel like he's a little bit loose with what he's doing and where he's going... For me, I just want him to somehow find his path. Whether it's back in Liverpool where he started or somewhere else. I want him to get that confidence back in himself that he had in 2019 where he thought he was the best in the world."
