Darren Till sets the record straight on viral boxing brawl upon comeback: "He’s just a coward"
Darren Till recently expressed his thoughts on his boxing debut, which ended in a controversial fashion. Till won the fight via a TKO stoppage in Round 2 after his opponent refused to continue fighting, resulting in a chaotic brawl inside the ring.
Till competed for the first time since December 2022. The former UFC title challenger squared off against Mohammad Mutie in a four-round exhibition match at the Social Knockout 3 event this past weekend. Mutie claimed that he was struck in the back of the head.
The Emirati seemed to be in a lot of agony after what appeared to be an illegal strike. However, the referee did not seem to be persuaded that Till should be disqualified for the strike and gave the Liverpool native a TKO victory instead. After learning of the official outcome, Mutie became extremely enraged and started yelling at the Brit before charging at him and starting a chaotic brawl in the ring.

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Till spoke to MMA Ariel Helwani about his wild boxing debut, saying:
''I’m just chilling. I’m just watching him on the floor, just like rolling around. I’m like, this guy’s not a fighter, he’s just a coward. And then he comes over to me, he’s like, ‘I wanted to fight, the ref didn’t let me fight.’ I was like, ‘Mate, save it.''
He continued:
''I said, ‘I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want to hear excuses. Just jog on. See you later.’ And then he started shouting stuff and that. I said, ‘Mate, look, I think you’re a coward.’ And then I think he thought that, like, people were going to hold him back. He ran at me, and as he ran at me, I just went back to the striking days.'' Darren Till chastises his opponent after a successful boxing debut

The way things transpired astounded many who were present in the audience. After the event, Till was interviewed by Fred Talks Fighting about his boxing match. He said:
''He [Mutie] didn't want to be there, the guy just made this big facade, this big entrance and then he just ran through a few hooks and got hit to the back of the head. He's an MMA fighter so he's used to getting [hit] in the back of the head. So that's all excuses. If you're a fighter, you're a fighter. If you're not, you're not."
