David Benavidez drops bombshell about being offered a fight with Terence Crawford
David Benavidez is scheduled to return to action against Oleksandr Gvozdyk in June. But according to the American, he was offered a mega-fight against one of boxing's best.
During a recent interview with boxing journalist Sean Zittel, 'The Monster' revealed that he had recently been offered a fight with Terence Crawford, arguably the no.1 pound-for-pound fighter in the sport.
Turki Alalshikh, who works as a Saudi advisor, recently began organizing mega-boxing events in the region, providing much relief to fans who have hoped to see the best boxers face each other in the ring.
According to the super middleweight contender, he was offered the chance to face Crawford by Alalshikh, but turned the offer down due to the fight being targeted for middleweight (160 pounds).
He said this:
"They wanted me to fight in August... He just said August, and I said I can't [because of] PBC. It didn't go further than that. He did mention one fighter, he wanted me to go down to 160 [pounds] and fight Crawford. I'm like, 'Bro, I cannot do that.' If I would be able to make 160 that would be amazing. But I can't. I don't remember the last time I weighed 160."

David Benavidez breaks down Ryan Garcia's victory over Devin Haney
David Benavidez has shared his surprise at Ryan Garcia's performance against Devin Haney when the pair clashed over 12 rounds on April 20th.
There was much confusion surrounding 'KingRy' ahead of the fight due to his controversial behavior. Having made a variety of wild claims, including being kidnapped, Garcia left many believing that the fight would not materialize.
But both boxers arrived at fight week without issue, and the WBC super lightweight title fight appeared to go ahead as planned. But 'KingRy' missed weight by over three pounds, meaning that the bout was rescheduled to a non-title fight.
During his recent review of the clash, 'The Monster' pointed to Garcia's weight miss as a reason for his stunning display against Haney. He said this:
"I was really shocked with what Ryan Garcia did... I think those three pounds helped him a lot. Especially that he didn't try and make the weight... He did look like a bigger man that day. Overall, all the antics Ryan Garcia was doing throughout training camp, I didn't think he was going to look like that."
