"Deadly as all hell" - Fans feel the intensity of Jackie Buntan's electrifying showdown against Italian star Martine Michieletto
ONE Muay Thai star Jackie Buntan earned a hard-fought unanimous decision win over four-time ISKA kickboxing world champion Martine Michieletto at ONE Fight Night 20 this past March. The world's largest martial arts promotion shared highlights of their epic three-round bout on Instagram:
Fans were thoroughly impressed with Buntan's showing and wrote in the comments section:
"You're deadly as all hell 🔥🙌❤️ well done ladies. Great fight 💯🗒️🥋"
"Bloody fights 😍 so satisfying."
"@jackiebuntan the champ is here!!!! 🖤🖤💙"
"Damm they battled."
"Best toe to toe fight, congratulations Ms Jackie Buntan."
Buntan will now turn her attention towards winning the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world championship at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. 'Reug Reug' on Nov. 8 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Standing in her way is French-Algerian legend Anissa Meksen, who has a long list of kickboxing accolades, which includes winning the Glory Women's Super Bantamweight and ISKA K-1 Bantamweight world championships.
Jackie Buntan had no problems transitioning from Muay Thai to kickboxing
Jackie Buntan had no problems translating her vaunted Muay Thai abilities to the realm of kickboxing, mainly because she was the training partner of former ONE atomweight kickboxing world champion Janet Todd, who retired this past March.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, Buntan shared:
"The transition was, I wouldn't say entirely new because I was able to help Janet [Todd], my training partner, in the past when she prepared for her kickboxing bouts. So I was familiar with the things. But it was just more so, how can we make this transition and do it as organically and smoothly to incorporate my original style in it."
ONE 169 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
