“He gave me that same feeling again” - Demetrious Johnson admits to being rocked heavy by Rodtang
'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson absorbed a booming punch from 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon when they fought in March this year. The all-time great said it was among the hardest strikes he has ever been hit with in his storied MMA career.
While speaking in an interview with Joe Rogan, 'Mighty Mouse' was asked if the Muay Thai phenom Rodtang hit hard. Johnson answered:
"I think the last time I got rocked in any of my fights was probably John Dodson and he [Rodtang] gave me that same feeling again."
'Mighty Mouse' has been an active fighter since 2007 and has fought at the very highest level consistently throughout his career. Johnson fought in 12 UFC world title fights, plus a world Grand Prix and multiple flyweight world title fights in ONE. Of all the opponents he's encoutered, Johnson considers Rodtang among the hardest hitters.
Demetrious Johnson and 'The Iron Man' faced off in an exciting special-rules superfight at ONE X. The matchup was a mix of MMA and Muay Thai rules. After surviving the Muay Thai round, 'Mighty Mouse' was able to earn the win by way of submission during the MMA round.
The next special-rules superfight will be between Stamp Fairtex and Anissa Meksen at ONE on Prime Video 6 on January 14 in Bangkok, Thailand, which fans are eagerly awaiting.
Joe Rogan and Demetrious Johnson are impressed with Fabricio Andrade
Brazil's 'Wonder Boy' Fabricio Andrade competed against MMA veteran 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker at ONE on Prime Video 3. Due to an accidental groin strike, the fight was called off and declared a no-contest. Before the fight was stopped, Andrade was impressing fans with his work.
Joe Rogan and Demetrious Johnson also discussed how impressed they were with the 25-year-old Brazilian fighter's performance. Rogan said:
“F**king beast man... F**king beast. I’m like, look man, these guys are out there. He was putting the boots to Lineker.”
'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson followed that up and said:
“He’s a nasty man. Fabricio Andrade, absolutely amazing, his fight with John Lineker. John Lineker, he throws punches straight, hardly. It’s usually the wild, winging punches, right? He was timing that hook.”
'Wonder Boy' is hungry to get back in the circle after the disappointing end to his world title fight against Lineker. Andrade still wants ONE Championship gold. The Brazilian fighter does not have any fight officially scheduled but will be hoping that changes soon.
