Demetrious Johnson in awe of Chingiz Allazov, breaks down his performance against Superbon
'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson, like all combat sports fans around the globe, was highly impressed with 'Chinga' Chingiz Allazov being able to capture the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title by way of knockout.
Superbon Singha Mawynn was the top pound-for-pound kickboxer in the world, and Chingiz Allazov ran through him with a KO victory. 'Mighty Mouse' recognized that the aggression and pressure from Chingiz Allazov would make all the difference.
Speaking to SCMP MMA after the event, Johnson said:
"It was absolutely amazing. Going into the fight, Mitch [Chilson] was like ‘Chingiz has never been in a five-round fight.' And I was like, 'Gentlemen, he looks shredded and he looks ready to go.'... The biggest thing going into that fight, watching all his fights in the World Grand Prix, the biggest thing he does so well is he’s putting pressure on his opponents. He’s always mixing it up with punches and kicks."
At ONE Fight Night 6, Allazov put it all together. Johnson added:
"The thing he did tonight was each time Superbon was trying to respond to him, he would always throw a right hand and go inside. That was the biggest difference when he fought Superbon. It was absolutely amazing."
