Demetrious Johnson did his best to counter Adriano Moraes’ inactivity in trilogy match
Demetrious Johnson did his best to stay active and hunt for a finish in his trilogy bout with Adriano Moraes at ONE Fight Night 10.
The two flyweight greats closed the book on their historic rivalry earlier this month as Demetrious Johnson retained his ONE flyweight world title via a hard-fought unanimous decision. While the bout did not deliver a highlight-reel knockout as their two prior matchups did, it was nevertheless an entertaining chess match between two of the best fighters in the world.
Appearing on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, ‘Mighty Mouse’ spoke about the ONE Fight Night 10 headliner, revealing that he did everything he could to stay active despite Adriano Moraes’ inactivity:
“I did my best trying to stay active in there, getting heavy on the arm, push his arm away, throw an elbow, throw a knee, throw a high knee, and then when he backed up I was right on him to begin with.”

With his first career trilogy now complete, Demetrious Johnson will take a long hard look at his future as he determines whether or not he continues to compete or hangs up his gloves for good. Should he make his return to the circle, Johnson will likely be tasked with defending his ONE world title against No. 2 ranked flyweight contender Kairat Akhmetov.
‘The Kazakh’ earned his right to be the next man in line after scoring his sixth-straight win over Australia’s Reece McLaren at ONE Fight Night 10.
