Demetrious Johnson credits lengthy experience in developing his peaceful mindset

Demetrious Johnson attributes his cool, calm, and collected demeanor inside the Circle to more than 20 years of training and competing.

Throughout the course of his career, ‘Mighty Mouse’ has always been a consummate professional, even when it comes time to punch another man in the face.

During a recent Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), Johnson was asked by one fan if there were any specific exercises he utilizes to maintain clarity and keep a level head in the competition. He responded, saying:

‘That’s all training. Been competing since I was 15. Being 36, it just comes with time and consistency with competition.”

Demetrious Johnson will attempt to maintain that clarity as he goes into perhaps the biggest fight of his illustrious career. On May 5, ‘Mighty Mouse’ will defend his ONE flyweight world championship for the first time against none other than the man he took the title from, Adriano Moraes. The two flyweight all-stars will headline ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, the promotion’s long-awaited U.S. debut.

In August, Johnson exacted revenge against Moraes, delivering a vicious fourth-round flying knee knockout at ONE on Prime Video 1 to capture the ONE flyweight world championship. Having suffered his own brutal knockout loss at the hands of Moraes 16 months earlier, it was all but guaranteed that the two men would meet once more to close out one of the most exciting trilogies in MMA history.

It’s a familiar position for challenger Adriano Moraes who has captured the ONE flyweight world championship on three prior occasions. But he’s never had to do it against a fighter like Demetrious Johnson. Will Moraes reclaim the flyweight crown once again, or will ‘Mighty Mouse’ leave Colorado with 26 pounds of gold still wrapped around his waist?

Amazon Prime Video subscribers can catch ONE Fight Night 10 live and for free in U.S. primetime on May 5.
