Demetrious Johnson “grateful” to apply everything he trained for in trilogy vs Adriano Moraes

Demetrious Johnson was able to execute his game plan to perfection at ONE Fight Night 10.

Emanating from the 1stBank Center in Denver, ONE Championship’s critically-acclaimed U.S. debut delivered from beginning to end. In the main event of the evening, Demetrious Johnson successfully defended his ONE flyweight world championship. He scored his second-straight win over former eight-time world titleholder Adriano Moraes.

Following the contest, ‘Mighty Mouse’ joined Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour to share his thoughts on his latest world title defense and the flawless execution of an effective game plan.

“Yeah I was grateful, I thought my clinch was really good, the stuff that we worked on like defending the takedown and not running into that elbow this time and slipping off an elbow and throwing a lot of knees,” Johnson said. “It was good.” [1:20 onwards]

While Adriano Moraes will go back to the drawing board after coming up short in what could have been his last ONE world title fight, Demetrious Johnson is busy contemplating what the future holds for him. With nearly 20 years in the books, ‘Mighty Mouse’ is considering whether or not his next step will be to hang up the gloves for good.

If he chooses to walk away, he will do so as the greatest flyweight in the history of the sport. Should he continue his combat sports career, Demetrious Johnson will likely be tasked with taking on the No. 2 ranked contender, Kairat Akhmetov.

If you missed any of the action, or just want to relive one of the most epic nights in ONE Championship history, the ONE Fight Night 10 replay can be watched live via Amazon Prime Video in North America.
