Demetrious Johnson says GSP, Jon Jones are his dream fantasy fights
Among the oft-mentioned fighters for the greatest of all time in mixed martial arts debate, Demetrious Johnson has a couple of top warriors in mind in dream fantasy fights.
In a recent Ask Me Anything session on Reddit MMA hosted by ONE Championship, ‘Mighty Mouse’ gamely answered questions from fans, including one from a big fan from Ireland who asked for his take on dream fantasy fights. In particular, who he would like to battle against if ever.
“‘Past or present who would have been your dream fight if weight and size wasn’t an issue?’”
“To which Johnson answered. ‘probably jones or 'GSP',’ referring to Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre.”
At one point in their illustrious careers, all three legendary fighters competed under the UFC and won it all.
Demetrious Johnson was a long-time flyweight champion of said promotion before being traded to ONE Championship in 2018, where he has enjoyed further success. He initially became the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix champion and then the ONE flyweight world champion.
St-Pierre, meanwhile, was a former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion before officially retiring in 2019. Jones, for his part, recently became a two-division UFC world champion, adding the heavyweight belt to the light heavyweight strap he previously held.
Johnson, though, is the only person to win world titles in both ONE Championship and UFC.
Demetrious Johnson looks to extend his success in ONE Championship by defending the ONE flyweight world title in a trilogy fight against former division king Adriano Moraes next month.
The two will battle at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5, which will be the company’s first-ever live on-ground event in the United States, happening in Colorado. The event will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.
