Demetrious Johnson shares four-word reaction to mind-blowing title fight stat about Israel Adesanya

Demetrious Johnson and Israel Adesanya's names are bound to surface in conversations about the sport's elite achievers. Earlier this year, the pair sat down for a lengthy hour-long conversation on Johnson's YouTube channel where they touched upon stories of triumphs, setbacks, and even pop culture.

Adesanya is gearing up to take on UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305, which will go down on Aug. 18, 2024, at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. 'The Last Stylebender' is widely regarded as one of the greatest middleweight fighters in the sport, and his accolades stand as a testament to that notion.

The former two-time UFC middleweight champion is set to compete in his 12th consecutive title fight over five years. ESPN MMA highlighted Adesanya's activity and competitive drive at the highest level on an Instagram post.

Besides the aforementioned title fight statistic, Adesanya occupies the No.6 spot in the middleweight division history for most wins (13). He is second on the list for most title fight wins behind Anderson Silva with eight victories. The 35-year-old has accumulated a total fight time of 4:27:22 inside the octagon, which underscores his experience competing at the highest level.

Adesanya is also seventh on the list for most title fight wins across divisions. The Nigerian-born Kiwi rattled off five title defenses during his reign as the champion and holds the record for the second most knockdowns in UFC title fights (9).

Alexander Volkanovski previews the upcoming Dricus du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya clash

Alexander Volkanovski will be cheering for Israel Adesanya when he takes on Dricus du Plessis in the main event of UFC 305.

Adesanya, who is coming back after his most extended period of inactivity since signing with the Las Vegas-based promotion, plans on entering the fray with renewed focus and energy.

Volkanovski previewed his City Kickboxing teammate's upcoming clash during the UFC 305 breakdown on his YouTube channel. He said:

"I think he's [Israel Adesanya] expecting an awkward fighter to be putting the pressure on him and I think he's going to be ready to capitalize on that. And that's what I mean by getting a finish, I mean like you coming in and doing all this sort of stuff and him just doing his freaky sort of stuff, leaning back, boom, boom sort of stuff. Sort of like a Rob[ert] Whittaker type of finish."
